Street Care

Homelessness and Musculoskeletal Disorders

📺 Watch the Video

Arthritis and other health disorders are common among homeless individuals, and treatment is a challenge due to their situations. Self-medicating with alcohol and other drugs is not uncommon. Chronic pain is left untreated for the most part, and homeless individuals can endure intense suffering. Rarely do homeless individuals have an opportunity to visit the doctor or obtain prescription medications to alleviate their pain. It is a serious consequence of living on the streets without access to proper health care.

  • – Assess the health of homeless individuals while distributing care items.
  •
  • – Use the Street Care App; Identify and refer individuals to appropriate facilities.
  •
  • – Follow up to ensure individuals receive the care they need.
